Last month, from 19 to 21 April, the Science and Technology Conference (SciTech) 2019 was held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. (You can visit the official page of the conference through the following link).

The event’s theme was envisioning the future, and it specifically focused on the future of the cities of the Middle East and North Africa in important sectors and themes such as energy, innovation and infrastructure.

The conference was attended by a number of decision-makers in the region, as well as a number of startups run by entrepreneurs who understand the reality of the region more than others and are able to imagine the best possible future.

These include Hamad Bin Khalifa University, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Qatar Computer Research Institute and a number of startup companies. The Syrian International Business Association, represented by Mrs. Rama Chakaki, was also present.

The conference brought together people and institutions of common interest, particularly those seeking to make a positive impact in the region, with a view to making technological innovation more effective and expeditious.

The three-day event included a series of panel discussions, questions and answers, and an innovation exhibition that reviewed existing research projects.

SIBA participation in the Science and Technology Conference 2019

The Syrian International Business Association always wishes to participate in all similar events in order to maintain continuous communication with decision makers, entrepreneurs and actors, which will help them complete their efforts and objectives of supporting entrepreneurs and supporting the Syrian industrial sector.

SIBA was represented by Mrs. Rama Chakaki, who had a role in many of the conference’s activities and sessions. She also received the honor of delivering the closing speech.

During her touching speech, Ms. Rama captured the audience telling her beautiful journey in describing the highlights of her career and stressing the importance of entrepreneurship and the importance of social impact.

It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Rama’s grandmother was one of the first Arab pilots to fly through the 1950s and 60s.
